Design and DevelopmentThe Yoda is an aerodynamic tailless model developed by Bernd Pfeifer. The focus was on a symetrical section wing to give lift across a whole spectrum of wind speeds. The contruction of the airframe was designed by Herbert Stammler so that this wing has the highest stiffness together with inherent torsion and low weight. Carbon spars are used in the construction of the wings It is multifunctional in that it can used in electric and glider formats for flat field, thermal and slope flying.Please go to zanonia.de for more information and pictures. We CNC cut the kit from the original drawings, which are themselves a work of art! The sophisticated construction method lends itself perfectly to the construction of the Yoda. |

KitFour versions of the Yoda are availalble, depending on your personal taste, you can choose between 1,5m, 1,65m 1,8m and 2 meter versions. The smaller versions are good for sloping and are, as to be expected, more agile. The bigger wingspan versions look majestic and are more visible when thermaling at high altitude. The kit contains everything needed to build the wing and contains high quality componenents like the hollow plywood ribs and all necessary hardware fittings. The airframe is self jigging with the correct rate of washout by means of small tabs included on the bottom of each rib, which are then removed before covering. It is possible to make the wing in two sections for ease of transportation. The illustrated and extensive contruction manual is also provided. |
FlightIt is easy to launch both the glider and electric versions of the Yoda. In the electric version you can confidently launch the Yoda by hand without the engine on. Because of the good gliding characteristics, there is enough time to switch on the motor and be confident of a good climb out to flying height..Following thermals are a pleasure and downdraft areas can be passed with high speed.
